No. 2 Men’s Lacrosse declaws Colorado College, 18-10, in NCAA Second Round

SALISBURY, Md. – The second-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team cruised to an 18-10 win in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Championship Tournament over Colorado College on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two teams traded goals in the early goings of the game. With the game tied at three, an Isaac Thrasher goal with 2:42 left in the first gave the Sea Gulls the 4-3 lead.
  • Thrasher's goal sparked a 5-0 run that lasted through the majority of the second quarter. Jack Dowd put away a pair of goals second-quarter run to help the Sea Gulls push their lead to 8-3.
  • The teams slugged it out again through the rest of the first half. Cross Ferrara netted a pair of goals in the second quarter while Dowd recorded his hat trick. However, Colorado College closed out the first half with back-to-back goals to cut the SU lead to 11-7 at the half.
  • Makay Hansen started the second half with a goal in the first four minutes of the third but Salisbury answered with a 6-0 that spanned the rest of the third and beginning of the fourth to extend the lead to 17-8. Ferrara closed out the run with a record-breaking goal at the 9:27 mark of the fourth.
  • A pair of Colorado College goals sandwiched a Josh Sanchez goal to close out the scoring.

  • Makay Henson led the Tigers with a hat trick.
  • Thomas Power and Dylan Brown each had a pair of goals.
  • Winston Chodnicki was 7-for-13 in faceoffs.
  • Ben Anastos had 16 saves for the Tigers.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will take on the eighth-ranked Amherst Mammoths in the NCAA Third Round tomorrow.
  • Opening faceoff from Sea Gull Stadium is set for 3 p.m.
