CLEVELAND, Ohio – Salisbury University finished 35th in the 2022-23 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) LEARFIELD Division III Directors' Cup standings.
Salisbury collected 332 points in the spring and 145 points in the fall to total 477 points for the 2022-23 academic year with seven sports scored. It is the first year since 2015-16 that the Sea Gulls placed in the top 40 nationally.
"It was a great year for all of our athletic teams and I'm proud of the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes, coaches and staff," stated
Dr. Gerry DiBartolo, SU's Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation. "Achieving this high mark in the Director's Cup standings is a testament to the pride and commitment of our entire athletics and campus community. We will continue to strive for excellence and build for the next athletic season."
Men's Lacrosse picked up the maximum 100 points for winning the national championship followed by softball's national runner-up finish to collect 90 points. Baseball and field hockey tallied 78 and 70 points respectively. Women's Lacrosse notched 64 points while volleyball and football rounded out the scoring for the Sea Gulls with 50 and 25 points.
Salisbury's tradition of excellence continued as SU athletics ranked in the top 10 percent of all Division III institutions. Since 1995-96, Salisbury has placed in the top 10 percent nationally 22 times in the 26 seasons with a rankings release.
