Football officially releases 2023 schedule

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University football team, the four-time defending New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Champions, officially announced its 2023 schedule on Friday.

For the first time since the 2018 season, the Sea Gulls are scheduled to play 10 Division III opponents during the regular season with four home matchups.

Salisbury will open the 2023 season with back-to-back road games. The season begins on Sept. 2 against the Washington & Lee Generals. It will be the first time the two teams matched up on the gridiron.

The two-year NJAC and Centennial Conference series agreement begins for the Sea Gulls on Sept. 9 against the Muhlenberg Mules in Allentown, Pa.

Salisbury will open its home slate against in-state rival, Johns Hopkins, on Sept. 16. Kick off from Sea Gull Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m.

After the bye week, Salisbury heads south across the Bay Bridge-Tunnel on Sept. 30 to square off against rival, Christopher Newport, to open NJAC play.

The Sea Gulls return home on Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. to take on William Paterson before embarking on a two-game New Jersey swing against Montclair St. (Oct. 14) and Rowan (Oct. 21).

Salisbury returns home for Homecoming and Family Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 28 against the TCNJ Lions with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.

The maroon and gold will step out of conference play on Nov. 4 and conclude its 2023 road schedule against Centennial foe, McDaniel.

The Sea Gulls will wrap up the 2023 regular season at home against NJAC opponent Kean. The game date and time are to be determined later in the season. Before the game, the Sea Gulls will honor its graduating seniors for Senior Day.

The NCAA Tournament begins on Nov. 18 with the Stagg Bowl taking place on Dec. 15 at Salem Stadium in Salem, Va.

Salisbury finished the 2022 season with a 9-2 record and a perfect 6-0 mark in the NJAC to win its fourth NJAC Championship in a row. The Sea Gulls also made its 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament with its third consecutive berth in the NCAA Playoffs.
