Men’s Soccer rolls to 4-0 triumph over Hood to wrap Seahawk Classic

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team concluded the Seahawk Classic with a 4-0 victory over the Hood College Blazers on Sunday afternoon, defending their unbeaten run to open the campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A stifling defensive effort helped the Sea Gulls control the pace of the opening half. SU surrendered just one shot in the opening period while rattling off seven of their own.
  • Aden Sabur put Salisbury in front in the 28th minute, weaving in and out of a trio of Blazer defenders and sneaking a slow roller into the bottom corner for his first collegiate goal.
  • Hood found six shots in the second half, but Salisbury turned up the heat to secure the win. The Sea Gulls scored three in the final 22 minutes, started by Sean Barwick's 10th career finish in the 68th minute.
  • Conner Appleby found the back of the net for the first time this season in the 80th minute, receiving a feed from Josh Williamson across the face of the net-minder and tapping it in.
  • Brett Liston logged his first career goal in the waning minutes, heading the rebound from an Adrian Gonzalez free kick into the onion bag.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Sean Barwick netted his third goal of the season and the 10th of his career. His six points rank second on the team this season.
  • Conner Appleby recorded the sixth score of his Sea Gull tenure, giving the senior forward 20 points for his career.
  • Aden Sabur and Brett Liston's goals were the first for each in the maroon and gold.
  • Josh Wendel made his first start in goal for the Sea Gulls. The junior transfer made one save and blanked the Blazers for 83 minutes and change. Will Noble checked in for the final 6:39, making one save to finish the clean sheet.
  • Salisbury outshot Hood, 19-7 in the victory.
CABRINI GAME NOTES
  • Jackson Quenzer led the Blazers on the attack, taking five shots and placing one on goal.
  • Landon Norcross put his lone shot on target, the only other shot-on-goal for Hood in the loss.
  • Nick Humphries played the full 90 in goal, allowing four goals while making a pair of saves.
