Men’s Soccer falls to Washington (Md.), 3-1

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of 2023 on Wednesday evening, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Shoremen of Washington College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The visitors netted a pair of goals in the first 30 minutes. Katim Njie scored in the 11th minute before Chris Comber added the second in the 30th.
  • Salisbury collected three corners in the opening period but were outshot 9-3.
  • Out of intermission, Alex Floyd endured contact in the box and connected on his chance from the spot, burying a penalty kick in the 57th to slice the margin to one.
  • Washington set the margin back to two goals when Tshazi Kamau found the back of the net in the 66th minute.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Alex Floyd netted his third goal of the campaign and the fourth of his Sea Gull career.
  • Cooper Santos put a pair of shots on target in the defeat. Jake Trama and Liam Pierce each put a shot-on-goal as well.
  • Skyler McCarthy went the distance in goal, making a season-high eight saves.
  • Salisbury was outshot 17-10 on the evening, placing five on target and earning seven corners.
  • Floyd was assessed a yellow card in the 66th minute.
WASHINGTON GAME NOTES
  • Katim Njie scored his team-leading second goal of the season.
  • Chris Comber nabbed his first goal of the campaign.
  • Tshazi Kamau's finish was the first of his Shoremen tenure.
  • Anthony Pinto played all 90 minutes and made four saves.
  • Washington placed 11 of their 17 shots on target and added three corners.
  • Njie was charged with a yellow card in the 61st minute.
