WASHINGTON, D.C. – An Ashley Pantano goal in the 55th minute propelled the Salisbury University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over the Catholic Cardinals on Saturday afternoon at Carlini Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sea Gulls took five shots in the first half against the Cardinals' two but couldn't push through to the back of the net. Katy Poltrack and Ashley Pantano each had good looks denied by CUA keeper Ava Riegler.
  • Hayle Foreman made a save against an Angelina Serrano shot in the 26th minute to keep the hosts off the board.
  • In the 55th minute Ava Wheeler set up Pantano for the go-ahead goal, giving SU a 1-0 lead on what turned out to be its last shot on goal for the match.
  • The Cardinals pushed forward in the final five minutes and put two shots on goal, but Foreman made two clutch saves, including one on a Lauren Cerda attempt with 29 seconds to go to preserve the clean sheet and Sea Gull victory.
