Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer falls to Bridgewater (Va.), 1-0

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Despite a valiant effort, an early goal by the Bridgewater (Va.) Eagles proved to be the difference maker as the Salisbury University Women's Soccer team falls 1-0 Sunday afternoon at the Bridgewater Soccer Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bridgewater got the game started with a shot just over a minute in when Skyler Daum ripped one to the lower left part of the goal, forcing Riley Pinato to make the save.
  • The Sea Gulls recorded their first shot a few minutes later when Tori Pietuszka sent one to the center of the goal with Carlee Gaboury making the save.
  • Using momentum from a throw-in, the Eagles made their way into the offensive third and scored the only goal of the contest in the 10th minute when Lyric Birkley's shot got past Pinato after an assist from Alicia Keo.
  • The rest of the contest saw both teams battle back and forth but in the end the Salisbury offense could not get one by the Eagles defense.
