Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer surges past King’s, 4-0, to close out Elmer Lord Classic

SALISBURY, Md. – Three second-half goals powered the Salisbury University men's soccer team's 4-0 victory over the King's Monarchs on Saturday in the final day of the annual Elmer Lord Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two teams battled in the midfield throughout the first half. Salisbury got a corner in the waning moments of the half. The ball bounced around in the box after the corner was sent in until Jacob Rarig, with two seconds remaining in the half, buried a shot a rocket over Jake Forst to give the Sea Gulls a 1-0 lead at halftime.
  • Coming out of the halftime break both teams took their time organizing their attacks until pressure by the Sea Gulls led to another corner. Connor Appleby's corner was sent through the group in the middle of the field and deflected off a King's defender and into the back of the net in the 55th minute gave SU the 2-0 lead.
  • The Sea Gull defense controlled the second half with the Monarchs only allowing one shot in the half.
  • With two minutes remaining in the game, Gavin Miller worked his way through the King's defense, launching a shot from around 20 yards out that got by Forst to give the Sea Gulls a comfortable 3-0 lead.
  • Hungry and still wanting more, Miller played a ball across the box to David Peters who redirected the ball to Sean Barwick, who powered the ball into the back of the net to make it 4-0 with just under a minute to go to solidify the victory for Salisbury.
