Women’s Soccer upended by Dickinson

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team couldn't keep the pace with the Dickinson Red Devils, falling 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Devils drew first blood in the 19th minute as Katie Vassilakos set up Lila Brown for a goal to put Dickinson up 1-0.
  • Jordan Edwards got off the Sea Gulls' first shot on goal in the 34th minute, only to be denied by DC keeper Sophia Kavulich.
  • Salisbury had the first big chance after halftime as Lauren Spelman took a top-right attempt that Kavulich stopped.
  • In the 57th minute, Vassilakos took a feed from Maddie St. Armand and buried it in the back of the net to double the Red Devil lead, 2-0.
  • Eight minutes later, Brown found Ava Prisco for DC's third tally of the match to make it 3-0.
  • Sarah Cudmore netted an unassisted goal in the 84th minute to put the icing on the cake for the Red Devils, 4-0.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Lauren Spelman took two shots on goal over 45 minutes of action to lead the Sea Gull attack.
  • Jordan Edwards managed four shots (one on goal) off the bench.
  • Riley Pinato made five saves in a losing effort.
  • Salisbury was outshot 16-7 overall and 10-3 in shots on goal.
  • The Sea Gulls earned six corner kicks to Dickinson's three.
DICKINSON GAME NOTES
  • Lila Brown and Katie Vassilakos each netted a goal and distributed an assist to pace the Red Devils.
  • Sarah Cudmore and Ava Burgess netted a goal apiece.
  • Maddie St. Armand picked up an assist.
  • Sophia Kavulich made three saves in 79-plus minutes in net, while Emma Burrows came in for the final 10-plus minutes to complete the clean sheet.
