SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University athletic department announced on Wednesday that the Sea Gull field hockey and men's soccer teams will host Community Youth Day at their respective contests on Saturday, Sept. 30.
Area youth are invited to attend both the sixth-ranked field hockey team's game against St. Mary's (Md.) at Sea Gull Stadium, as well as the men's soccer team's showdown against second-ranked Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) rival Mary Washington at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex. Both fixtures are set to begin at 1 p.m.
The afternoon will feature meet-and-greets with the field hockey and men's soccer teams following each of their games. Youth who attend either game are encouraged to wear their youth team uniforms.
The field hockey game will feature giveaways related to Sammy the Sea Gull, as well as team t-shirts and team posters that the players will sign after the game.
In addition, local twins Elle and Emerson Thomas, accompanied by their parents Kevin and Charissa, will be recognized as honorary captains prior to the field hockey game. The Thomas twins are
actively involved in the Wicomico County Challenger Little League Field 7 1/2 project, whose purpose is to provide children and families with differing abilities a place for recreational activities.
Admission is free to both SU field hockey and men's soccer games, with gates opening at each venue an hour before game time.
Sea Gull Stadium suite rental is available for the St. Mary's field hockey game and the rest of the field hockey season. Rentals are available for $200 per suite, per contest. For more information, contact Associate Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation
