Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer surges by Stevenson, 3-0

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Autumn Conway scored the opening goal for the Salisbury University women's soccer team while Ashley Pantano added a brace to push the Sea Gulls past the Stevenson Mustangs, 3-0, on Wednesday evening at Mustang Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • While Stevenson kicked the game off, it was Salisbury who made the first attack. Lauren Spelman played a ball into the box, where Autumn Conway received it and backheeled a shot past keeper Courtney Wysokowski to give the Sea Gulls a 1-0 lead in the first minute of the contest.
  • The Sea Gulls controlled most of the first half until Kamille Purcell took Stevenson's first shot of the night, which was ultimately blocked by a Salisbury defender just a little over 27 minutes into the contest.
  • While Salisbury maintained possession and continued their offensive push, the teams went into the halftime break with the score remaining 1-0 in the Sea Gulls' favor.
  • Coming out of halftime the Sea Gulls wasted no time to score their second goal of the evening. In the 48th minute, Ashley Pantano drove into the Mustangs' box and cut into the middle towards the penalty spot before launching a shot that got by Wysokowski to bring the Salisbury lead up to two.
  • The following 10 minutes saw the Sea Gulls overwhelm the Mustangs with shot after shot. Katy Poltrack, Pantano, and Kristen Ging took a shot each at Stevenson's goal before the Sea Gulls could break through as Pantano launched a shot through three Mustang defenders into the upper right corner of the goal for her second goal of the night to give the Sea Gulls a 3-0 lead.
  • Stevenson tried to have an answer for the Sea Gulls, but Samantha Wilson's shot in the 62nd minute couldn't get by SU keeper Hayle Foreman.
