Women's Swimming takes the win over Marymount, 125-77, on Senior Day

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's swim team controlled the meet against Marymount, winning seven of the 11 events, Friday afternoon in front of an energetic crowd inside Maggs Pool. The team broke five pool records during the day.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Salisbury University women started the meet off on a high note, taking the top of the podium in the 200-meter medley relay. The winning team of Emma Schlutt, Samantha Watson, Olivia Polucha, and Lily Griffin broke the pool record in the process, setting a new mark at 2:01.26. Schlutt set a new pool record by herself during the relay as she set a new 50-meter backstroke time as she finished her leg in 31.25.
  • Olivia Totaro carried the momentum from the opening event into the 1,500-meter freestyle as she broke the pool record for the event with a 17:56.60. Grace Wienckowski finished behind Totaro to give the Sea Gulls a 1-2 finish in the event.
  • Salisbury picked up another 1-2 finish in the 200-meter IM as Schlutt and Watson took the top spots. Schlutt established a new pool record with her time of 2:27.23.
  • In the 100-meter butterfly Griffin and Leah Gude took the top two steps of the podium. Griffin's time of 1:04.15 gave her possession of the pool record in the event.
  • To close out the day, Salisbury came out on top in the 200-meter freestyle relay. The winning time of 1:55.67 came courtesy of Sadie Hebert, Alexa Hilty, Kara Graybill, and Olivia Hawkins.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Sea Gulls hit the road as they take on the Catholic Cardinals to close out the regular season.
  • The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Dufour Center Pool in Washington, D.C.
