No. 9 Football rolls past William Paterson

WAYNE, N.J. - The No. 9 Salisbury University football program rolled past William Paterson 63-0 on the road Saturday afternoon inside Wightman Stadium. The Sea Gulls (5-0, 2-0 NJAC) scored in each quarter while holding the Pioneers (1-4, 0-2 NJAC) to just 36 yards of total offense.

Salisbury has not shut a team out since 2022 when they shut out William Paterson 23-0. Andre Matthews led the offense with five rushing touchdowns which is the most in a game by one player for Salisbury since Joey Bildstein in 2022. Matthews scored all five touchdowns in the first half.

Frankie Giannetti also scored a defensive touchdown for the Sea Gulls in the first half after Chase Lomax earned a strip sack in William Paterson territory. Giannetti scooped it up and scored from 11 yards out. This helped Salisbury take a 42-0 lead into the halftime break.

The Sea Gulls tacked on three more scores in the second half as Matthew Sims and SyRus McGowan both tallied rushing touchdowns. McGowan also found Jadyn Thomas for a 71-yard passing score.
