EWING, N.J. – The Salisbury University women's swimming team opened the new season by delivering boss
Nate Parsley a major career milestone as part of a 175-87 win over The College of New Jersey Lions in Saturday afternoon's New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action at the TCNJ Aquatic Center.
The dual-meet win was the 100th of Parsley's career as a head men's and women's swimming coach. Parsley won his first 57 dual meets as the head coach at Arcadia from 2017-20; he has now amassed 43 wins with the Sea Gulls, including 22 with the women's team and 21 with the men.
MEET NOTES
- Sydney McCallie starred in her Sea Gull debut to the tune of four medals, including two golds, en route to a team-leading 22 points. McCallie won both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.01) and 200-yard individual medley (2:12.65) while finishing second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:21.02).
- Mackenzie Gula opened her collegiate career in style with the three top performances of the afternoon. Gula won three races and finished second in another, taking individual gold in the 100-yard freestyle (54.13) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.21).
- Lily Griffin picked up where she left off from her stellar freshman season, medaling four times. Individually, Griffin won the 100-yard butterfly (59.57) and finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.18).
- Jenna Krawlzik won both of her events for the day, capturing the gold in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.26) and 500-yard freestyle (5:23.53).
- The Sea Gulls claimed victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Gula, Alexa Hilty, Griffin, and Kara Graybill clocking in at 1:42.00 collectively. Gula's first-leg split of 24.85 seconds was best among the quartet.
- Salisbury ultimately earned 30 medals on the day, taking home 10 golds, eight silvers, and 12 bronzes.
The Sea Gulls continue their season-opening three-meet road trip next Saturday at Marymount (Va.). The first event from Arlington, Va., is set for 1 p.m.
