UNION, N.J. - The No. 7 Salisbury University football program completed the undefeated season after taking down Kean University 58-28 Saturday afternoon inside Kean Alumni Stadium. This is the fifth time the program has posted an undefeated season. With this win, the Sea Gulls also claim the outright 2024 NJAC Title.
The SU defense started the game forcing the Cougars to a three-and-out which was followed by a 50-yard touchdown run on the second play of the Sea Gull opening drive from SyRus McGowan. McGowan kept the ground game churning a few drives later earning another rushing touchdown, this time from nine yards out. The Sea Gulls headed into the second quarter of action leading 14-0.Â
Kharee Stephens capped off a nine-play drive for the Sea Gulls to start the second quarter with a 31-yard rushing touchdown. After a fourth down stop from the SU defense, Ronald Clark scampered in from 10 yards out extending the lead to 28-0.Â
The following Kean drive, Javon Freeman intercepted a pass four plays into the drive handing the ball right back to his offense. Three plays later, McGowan got the passing attack rolling finding Micah Brubaker for a 37-yard touchdown. Salisbury headed to the halftime break with a 35-7 lead.Â
That would not be the only time Brubaker found the end zone, Matthew Sims hit Brubaker for a 42-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Sims and Ki'Sean Gray-Dantzler both added rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter for the Sea Gulls.
