No. 6 Football clinches share of NJAC Title with win over TCNJ

EWING, N.J. - The No. 6 Salisbury University football program picked up a conference road win 52-35 over TCNJ Saturday afternoon on Lions Field. With this victory, the Sea Gulls clinched at least a share of the 2024 NJAC Conference Championship. This tallies as the 200th Salisbury Conference Championship in Athletic department history. 

Salisbury trailed 14-0 early in the first quarter but was able to cut into the TCNJ lead with a Michael Cox two-yard touchdown run. The Sea Gulls trailed 14-7 heading into the second quarter of action. 

Just two minutes into the second quarter, Dario Belizaire scampered in from 25 yards out to tie the football game. The teams went back and forth in the second quarter combining for 35 points of offense. With 11 seconds left before halftime, SyRus McGowan found Micah Brubaker from 10 yards out making it 28-28 at the halftime break. 

The second half was all SU as the Sea Gulls outscored the Lions 24-7 cruising to the 52-35 victory. McGowan kept the passing attack sharp finding Daniel Clark for a 23-yard score while Cox added two fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns to seal the deal. 

Game Notes
- The Sea Gull offense tallied 464 yards rushing 
- McGowan went 9-13 passing for 132 yards and two touchdowns along with 144 yards rushing
Belizaire totaled 137 yards with a touchdown
- Jaden Davis added a rushing touchdown as well along with 93 yards
- Salisbury dominated time of possession holding the ball for almost 38 minutes of the ball game
- Malachi Baker tallied two interceptions while also leading the team in tackles with eight
- Frankie Giannetti totaled seven tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss

The Sea Gulls return home next week on Nov. 9th, when they host McDaniel on Senior Day at 1 p.m.
