LEXINGTON, Va. - The No. 1 Salisbury University field hockey program fell 2-1 against the defending National Champions Middlebury College in the NCAA semifinals Friday afternoon on W&L Turf Field.
After a scoreless first quarter that only had one shot between both teams, the Sea Gulls struck first just over 30 seconds into the second quarter.

Arden Hunteman streaking down the right side giving SU a 1-0 that they carried into the half.
This turned out to be the only shot of the game for the Sea Gulls. Two minutes into the second half, the Panthers tied the game sending the NCAA semifinal match into the fourth quarter tied up 1-1.
With just under five minutes left, Middlebury broke the tie which turned out to be the final difference ending the Sea Gull 2024 NCAA Tournament run.

Salisbury finishes the season at 17-3 overall, reaching a 39th overall and 30th consecutive NCAA Tournament while making the semis for the 16th time in program history and first time since 2019.
