SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's swimming team won its fourth straight dual-meet to open the season, easily downing the Washington College Shorewomen, 205-55, on Saturday afternoon at Maggs Pool. The triumph extends the Sea Gulls' home winning streak to 12 meets dating back to the start of the 2021-22 season.
MEET NOTES
- Sydney McCallie medaled in all four of her events, including individual golds in the 100-meter backstroke (1:08.90) and 400-meter individual medley (5:07.60) and a silver in the 100-meter freestyle (1:02.81). McCallie's mark in the 400 IM set a new program record (4:38.69, converted).
- Mackenzie Gula captured four gold medals, highlighted by a 50-meter freestyle time of 27.20 to set a program record (23.08, converted). Gula also won the 100-meter butterfly (1:04.72).
- Olivia Polucha touched first in the 200-meter butterfly (2:25.23) and two bronzes, including one in the 200-meter backstroke (2:31.06).
- Elizabeth Perry medaled three times, including a solo gold in the 100-meter freestyle (1:02.13).
- Jenna Krawlzik, Lola Shockley, and Delaney Gibbons each won a pair of golds on the day. Krawlzik took the title in the 200-meter freestyle (2:14.66) and 400-meter freestyle (4:41.66); Shockley in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:17.53) and 200-meter breaststroke (2:50.05); and Gibbons in the 200-meter backstroke (2:29.26) and as part of the 200 medley relay.
- In the 200-meter medley relay, Gibbons, Samantha Watson, Lily Griffin, and Gula touched up first in a time of 2:03.46.
- The Sea Gulls set a pool record in the 400-meter freestyle relay, with Rachel Rickabaugh, Gula, Perry, and McCallie clocking in with a winning time of 4:04.20.
- Salisbury's total haul on the day featured 31 medals (14 gold, eight silver, nine bronze).
MAGGS POOL RECORDS SET
The Sea Gulls now prepare for the three-day Yellow Jacket Invitational in Hampton, Va., on Nov. 22-24. Prelims on the opening day from the Hampton Aquaplex are slated for 12 p.m.
