Men’s Basketball collects two major C2C honors; Oates, Rebstock named All-C2C

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team collected two of the major Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) postseason awards while landing a pair of All-C2C selections, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Senior Jordan Oates was named the C2C Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season, while head coach Maurice Williams and his staff were recognized as the C2C Coaching Staff of the Year. Oates also earned a spot on the All-C2C First Team while Reed Rebstock was picked for the Second Team.

Oates earns the conference's academic accolade for the second consecutive season, now the first and second player in program history to receive the recognition. While cementing his status as one of the premier players in Division III, Oates has maintained a 3.66 grade-point average as a Biomedical Sciences major with a focus in Pre-Dentistry and a minor in Chemistry. He has garnered six Dean's List selections at SU and holds membership in the Phi Eta Sigma and Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Societies.

The success goes beyond the classroom with Oates, who picks up the first All-C2C First Team nod and the second all-conference recognition of his Sea Gull Career. The senior forward led the conference in rebounding (12.6) for the third consecutive season, ranking fifth nationally in the figure, while slotting second in the league in scoring (16.6).

Oates has continued to climb the Salisbury record books in 2023-24, now ranking fifth in rebounds per game (10.9), sixth in total rebounds (829), t-9th in blocks (59), and 12th in three-point field goals made (141). He also ranks third in offensive rebounding average (3.2) and seventh in total offensive rebounds (237).

Williams helped lead the Sea Gulls to 13 wins in 2023-24, his highest total in a season and the first full-length winning season (excluding the shortened 2020-21 campaign) of his SU tenure. Williams and his staff guided Salisbury to key victories over Gettysburg and No. 20 Christopher Newport throughout the season.

Rebstock, a junior from Pasadena, Md., made a splash with the Sea Gulls in his first season. The transfer from Prince George's Community College led the C2C in three-point field goal percentage, hitting 44.3 percent of his triples, while ranking second in field goal percentage, putting 52.9 percent of his shots in the basket.

Salisbury's second scoring option ranked 10th in the conference averaging 11.1 points per contest. He also hauled in 5.3 rebounds per game, a figure slotting 11th in the C2C.

Salisbury prepares to take on Warren Wilson in the 2024 C2C Championship Quarterfinals, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. Stay tuned for a full championship preview coming this evening at suseagulls.com.
