Maurice “Mo” Williams begins his seventh season as the head coach of the Sea Gull men’s basketball team in 2025-26. He was named the ninth head coach in Sea Gull history on April 17, 2019.

- Nov. 9, 2019 – Salisbury defeats Rosemont, 106-68, for Coach Williams’ first win as the Sea Gulls’ head coach
- Dec. 29, 2019 – Salisbury upsets No. 6 Marietta, 88-80, at Great Lakes Invitational
- Jan. 20, 2021 – Salisbury defeats Va. Wesleyan, 67-58, in the first official athletics event held on campus since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic

Coaching Career Prior to Salisbury
Williams became the head coach at Salisbury after one season as an assistant at Division I Longwood University, helping the Lancers to their most wins in a decade and an appearance in the 2019 College Basketball Invitational (CBI). Prior to his time at Longwood he served as an assistant at Salisbury and several Division III programs, including Johns Hopkins, Eastern, Stevenson and Frostburg State.
Williams served as an assistant at Salisbury in 2014-15, helping to guide the Sea Gulls to a 21-8 record and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1996-97.
Playing Career
Williams was a three-year letter winner at Frostburg State. In 2011-12 he was named a team captain and earned First-Team All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) honors. That season Williams let the CAC in points per game (16.7), offensive rebounds (72) and free-throw percentage (.851). Prior to his time at FSU, Williams enrolled at Salisbury during his freshman year and competed on the track and field team.
Personal Life
Williams, a native of Columbus, Ohio, graduated from Frostburg State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health & Physical Education and a coaching minor in 2011. He earned his Master’s degree in Recreation and Sports Science from Ohio University in 2015. While coaching at Longwood in 2018-19 he was spotlighted as a “Next Generation” coach by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Williams also recently became a published author, with his book "Dream Beyond Your Surroundings: How to use where you are as a road map to your purpose" available for purchase online.
