SALISBURY, Md. – Catching national eyes after a red-hot week at the plate, outfielder
Andrew Kell of the fourth-ranked Salisbury University baseball team has been
named to the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week for March 11-17, as revealed on Wednesday.
Kell, a junior from Columbia, Md., slashed .765/.846/1.294 with three doubles, two home runs, five RBIs, five steals, and 11 runs scored over the Sea Gulls' five victories during the previous week. Kell racked up multiple hits in all five games, including three extra-base hits in last Tuesday's win over Lycoming.
With 13 games under his belt this season, Kell ranks fourth nationally with a .629 batting average to go along with 18 runs, six doubles, one triple, four homers, 15 RBIs, and five steals, plus two outfield assists from center. He was
named Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Player of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday.
Kell is the first Sea Gull to make the D3baseball Team of the Week during the 2024 season. In 2023, SU placed seven players on six national teams of the week.
Kell and the Sea Gulls, who have won eight straight games and 10 of their past 11, open this week's slate on Wednesday afternoon against McDaniel. First pitch from Donnie Williams Stadium is set for 3 p.m.
