2024 C2C Men's Tennis Championship Preview

THE RUNDOWN

The 30th-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team looks to cap a breakthrough season with some conference hardware at the 2024 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Tournament at the University of Mary Washington. The opening round begins on Friday, May 3, as the fourth-seeded Sea Gulls take on the fifth-seeded Pratt Cannoneers at 10 a.m. at the Battleground Outdoor Complex in Fredericksburg, Va.

Salisbury finished the 2024 regular season with a 13-4 record, good for the program's most wins since 2019. The Sea Gulls were ranked as high as 30th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III weekly polls and currently sit there headed into the postseason.
The Sea Gulls were ranked seventh in Region IV in the latest NCAA Division III regional rankings.
Jhayden Pappas and Gianluca Beaujon each made a pair of All-C2C teams on Wednesday. Pappas and Beaujon were both named to the All-C2C First Team for singles, and as a pair they made the All-C2C Second Team in doubles.
Freshmen Gurv Suri (Mar. 11) and Caleb Brightman (Apr. 15) each earned C2C Player of the Week awards.
Suri recorded the Sea Gulls' best singles record, going 17-3 in his matches and winning nine straight to close out the regular season.
The doubles pair of Aron Bursztyn and Mitchell Desman posted a team-best 16-3 mark throughout the season.
Pratt enters the C2C Tournament after going 7-5 in the regular season.
Mikah Liu and Mehul Bhargava represented the Cannoneers on the All-C2C Second Team for singles.
Freshman Calder Tillinghast posted the Cannoneers' best singles record, going 9-5 from primarily fourth and fifth singles.
Pratt's top doubles pair was Eagle Zhang and Liu, who played together seven times in a mix-and-match lineup and went 5-2.
Friday's winner will take on the top-seeded Mary Washington Eagles in the C2C semifinals on Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday, May 5 at 10 a.m.
Salisbury is chasing its fourth-ever NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2000.
