THE RUNDOWN

The 29th-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis is ready to take the next step toward the national tournament at the 2025 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Tournament at Christopher Newport University. The semifinal round begins on Saturday, May 3, as the third-seeded Sea Gulls take on the second-seeded hosting CNU Captains at 2 p.m. at the James & Sarah Eyre Tennis Courts in Newport News, Va.

Salisbury finished the 2025 regular season with a 13-5 record in dual meets and were ranked as high as 25th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III weekly polls.
The Sea Gulls were ranked seventh in Region IV in the latest NCAA Division III regional rankings.
Asher Willenborg was pegged as the 19th-ranked singles player in the region. He boasts a team-best 17-3 record in singles play, all from the first position, and was named C2C Player of the Week on Mar. 10.
Willenborg and Jhayden Pappas made a strong pair in first doubles, going 15-7 in the top flight together. They enter the postseason as the 10th-ranked duo in the region.
Gurv Suri won 14 singles matches during the regular season and took home C2C Player of the Week on Apr. 14, while Nicholas O'Dea captured 13 singles wins.
Desman and Gianluca Beaujon won 12 second doubles matches together, while Suri and Aron Bursztyn secured 12 third-doubles wins.
Christopher Newport posted an 11-8 record in the regular season. They enter postseason play ranked [26th] nationally.
The Captains bested SU 4-3 in their regular season matchup on Apr. 26 in Salisbury.
Vincent Truong played in 14 first singles matches, going 6-8.
Truong and Ashton Legum went 6-6 in first doubles together.
Saturday's winner will take on either top-seeded Mary Washington or fourth-seeded UC Santa Cruz in the championship match on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Salisbury is chasing its fourth-ever NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2000.
