Women’s Soccer tops Greensboro at Seahawk Classic

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team bombarded the Greensboro College Pride on Saturday afternoon at the Seahawk Classic on the campus of St. Mary's (Md.), notching a 2-1 victory in the season's second showdown to conclude its run in the tournament.

The Sea Gulls jumped on Greensboro from the opening kickoff, tallying 43 shots and forcing 12 saves by the Pride's goalkeepers. Salisbury flipped the script from the season opener, with Zakiyyah McMillan finding Rebecca Fairbanks to help the side be the one to score in the first two minutes to take an early 1-0 lead.

After forcing five saves and racking up four corners across the ensuing 34 minutes, Ryan Tursellino dished a dime to Jordan Edwards to grow the lead to two, where it held through the remainder of the period and into intermission.

Greensboro dirtied the clean sheet in the 59th minute, courtesy of a goal scored by Emily Walsh. Salisbury clamped down late to preserve the advantage, allowing just two more Greensboro shots throughout the second period to secure the team's first triumph of 2024.
