SALISBURY, Md. - The third-ranked Salisbury University field hockey program stays undefeated after taking down No. 2 Johns Hopkins University 2-0 Wednesday afternoon in Sea Gull Stadium.
The Sea Gulls (5-0) scored two goals in the first half lifting them to victory over the Blue Jays (4-1). The first goal came in the first period after
Marli McDorman, the team's leader in assists, found
McKenna Horner who slotted it into the back of the goal
giving Salisbury a 1-0 lead heading into the second period.
After the Sea Gulls earned a penalty corner with under five minutes to play until halftime,
McDorman fired a shot from the top of the circle sending it right past the Johns Hopkins goalkeeper for a 2-0 lead.
Madelyn Reed picked up the assist on the play as Salisbury took the 2-0 lead into halftime. The Blue Jays only tallied six shots for the game with three coming in the first half and three in the second.
