Women’s Soccer plays to scoreless draw with Va. Wesleyan

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team earned its third clean sheet of the 2024 campaign on Wednesday evening, playing to a scoreless draw with the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins on Foster Field.

The Marlins (0-2-3) forced early pressure, demanding a pair of saves by Salisbury's Hayle Foreman in the opening seven minutes. The Sea Gulls (2-1-5) outshot the hosts 6-2 through the rest of the opening period, but neither side would place another shot on goal leading up to intermission.

Salisbury would apply the pressure early in the second half, with Kristen Ging and Katy Poltrack forcing back-to-back turnaways by the Marlins net-minder in the 53rd and 54th minute. Virginia Wesleyan responded with four attempts including one on-target try in the 61st minute, but Foreman was ready to deny the chance.

Each side put one more attempt on goal, with the Marlins finding an opportunity in the 74th minute and the Sea Gulls forcing a save in the 79th. The hosts would take the final four shots, but the Sea Gull defense maintained the shutout in the closing minutes.
