Women's Basketball falls at home against Mary Washington

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury women's basketball program fell 53-43 against the University of Mary Washington Saturday afternoon inside Maggs Gymnasium on Alumni Day.

The Sea Gulls (8-8) got the scoring started when Nicole Miller drilled a three from downtown. SU held on to the lead until three minutes left in the first quarter, once Mary Washington (7-11) gained the lead, they never gave it up.

The Eagles led by two points at the end of the first quarter but could only extend that lead to three at the halftime break. In the third, the Sea Gulls were able to pull within one point after a basket from Remy Tolar with just over three and a half minutes to play. But the Eagles finished the quarter on a 6-0 run to earn a seven-point cushion heading into the final quarter of action.

Mary Washington used that momentum from the third to push the lead to 12 in the fourth shutting the door on the Sea Gulls. The game was won on the glass where the Eagles earned 46 rebounds compared to just 34 for SU. 22 of those 46 rebounds for Mary Washington were offensive rebounds.
