NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Salisbury University women's basketball program fell 92-57 on the road against rival Christopher Newport University Saturday afternoon inside the Freeman Center.
The Sea Gulls (8-9) struggled to settle into the game as the Captains (17-1) jumped out to a 12-2 lead halfway through the first quarter. CNU built on that lead taking a 26-9 advantage into the second quarter of action.
Abby Plaugher got the offense rolling scoring eight of her eleven first-half points in the second quarter. CNU led at half 49-21. The Captains continued the trend in the third but the Sea Gulls were able to win the fourth quarter 23-19.
Plaugher ended up with a team-high 14 points and six rebounds while 
Kisa Lilly set a career-high with 13 points shooting 66 percent from the floor with three assists and two steals.
GAME NOTES
- Tori Rumbaugh scored eight points while 
Nicole Miller added seven.
- CNU tallied 23 second chance points compared to just nine for SU.
- The Captains won the battle on the glass by 20 rebounds.
