SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's basketball program dropped a home game 61-50 against McDaniel College Wednesday night inside Maggs Gymnasium.
McDaniel (10-3) jumped out early on the Sea Gulls (8-7) ending the first quarter with a 20-8 lead. SU was able to weather the storm in the second and third quarters. The Green Terror held a 13-point lead heading into the halftime break.
Between the three minutes left in the third quarter and five minutes in the fourth, Salisbury went on a 17-6 run cutting the lead to just 10 points. The run fell short as the Green Terror was able to close the late on the Sea Gulls.
The Sea Gulls were outrebounded for the game 44-32 but were able to force 20 McDaniel turnovers.
Nicole Miller was the leading scorer for the Sea Gulls with 17 points.
GAME NOTES
- Abby Plaugher was the second-leading scorer for SU with 16.
- Alex Bull grabbed seven rebounds with four points
- The Sea Gulls once trailed by 24 in the game but used a strong second half to give themselves a chance in the second half.
The Sea Gulls are back in action when they host Mary Washington on Saturday at 2 p.m. for Alumni Day.
