VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Salisbury University women's soccer head coach
Kwame Lloyd earned his 100 victory as skipper of the Sea Gulls on Friday as the Maroon and Gold rolled past the Regent University Royals 4-0 inside Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
Salisbury used a corner kick to its advantage just before the 34th minute as
Samantha Root played a short ball to
Abby Mattia, who left it back for Root to laser a left-footed shot just underneath the crossbar to give SU the advantage.
The Sea Gulls followed the same blueprint in the 50th minute to add onto their lead.
Ryan Tursellino sent in a crosser off the short pass from
Emma Schwartz that
Ava Wheeler finished on a volley.
Wheeler went one-on-one with Regent's keeper Kristen Miller eight minutes later after receiving a through ball from Tursellino and buried her second of the contest.
With just under four minutes remaining,
Charlotte Sutherland tapped in a cross from
Ashlynn Newton to finalize a 4-0 win.
