NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team dropped its first of two regular-season matchups with The No. 21 Christopher Newport University Captains on Saturday night by a score of 1-0.
The lone score of the match came around the midway point of the first session from Barry Jones.
Nate Jones turned aside the following two shots on target from CNU to keep it a one-goal difference heading into the breather.
SU's two shots on goal for the contest came from
Michelangelo Parravano, whose second attempt of the evening was walled off by CNU keeper Hayden Dewey at the beginning of the second frame.
The Sea Gulls' push during the waning minutes was thwarted by the Captains, with the shot total being even at three throughout the second 45-minute segment.

- Parravano took three total shots with two going on target.
- Aaron Glikin fired off two attempts.
- Tanner Calzado and Gavin Miller each had one shot attempt.
- Jones made three saves and was tagged with the loss.
The Sea Gulls prepare next for a rematch with the University of Mary Washington Eagles on Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Ray Gordon Field in Fredericksburg, Va.
