Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Andrew Barbieri

Men’s Soccer trades second-half scores in draw with Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Salisbury University men's soccer team gained a lead during the second frame of action at Roy Gordon Field, but was unable to shake past the University of Mary Washington Eagles in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

The Sea Gulls kept Mary Washington on its heels throughout the first stanza by putting six shots on target to the Eagles' zero. David Brunetti came inches away from getting an early tally when he hit the post in the 13th minute.

The Maroon and Gold broke through twelve minutes after halftime. Tanner Calzado collected a steal and delivered a strike into the bottom left corner.

Jake Trama worked through traffic to get a header that careened off the crossbar in search of insurance for SU in the 66th minute.

Defensively, the walls caved in for the Sea Gulls in the 79th minute to bring the battle to a stalemate. Nate Jones stood tall with five minutes remaining to keep the game even.
