SALISBURY, Md. – The 24th-ranked Salisbury University women's swimming team returned to the water better than ever to open the 2025-26 season, torching the Marymount (Va.) Saints 246-81 on Saturday afternoon at Maggs Pool. The win marks the 16th consecutive home dual-meet victory for the Sea Gulls, who haven't lost at Maggs Pool since Jan. 2020.
MEET NOTES
- Maddie Powell scored a team-best 22 points for the Sea Gulls, winning a pair of gold medals in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:52.51) and 100 individual medley (1:11.44) while taking a silver in the 200 IM (2:37.71).
- Olivia Polucha took home a trio of golds, including in a pair of solo events, touching first in the 200 backstroke (2:26.82) and the 200 butterfly (2:24.93).
- Samantha Watson also won three races, taking solo titles in the 50 breast (36.19) and 100 breast (1:18.37).
- Libby Miyashita earned four medals in her first collegiate action, with a solo gold in the 100 fly (1:05.37) and silvers in the 100 freestyle (1:01.53) and 200 free (2:16.06).
- Rowan Odonoghue captured four medals of her own with a solo triumph in the 400 free (4:37.32) and silvers in the 50 free (28.22) and 800 free (9:45.90).
- Lily Griffin matched Miyashita and Odonoghue with two golds and two silvers, winning the 50 fly (29.07) solo while placing second in the 100 fly (1:05.84).
- Salisbury's top two 200 medley relay teams touched up first and second. Leading the way was the A-crew of Logan Bagley, Watson, Miyashita, and Odonoghue, who finished the race in 2:03.50.
- SU wrapped up the day with another one-two finish in the 200 free relay. This time, the B-crew of Griffin, Kaitlyn McGuire, Polucha, and Alexa Hilty pulled off the victory at 1:53.97.
- In total, the Sea Gulls secured 16 gold medals, 14 silvers, and eight bronzes for 38 places on the podium.
MAGGS POOL RECORDS
The Sea Gulls are off next weekend before returning to the lanes against New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) rival Rowan on Saturday, Nov. 1. The first event from Maggs Pool is set for 12 p.m.
