HAVERFORD, Pa. –
Ashley Pantano netted a pair of goals, but the Salisbury University women's soccer team fell to the Haverford College Fords 3-2 in Tuesday's late afternoon contest.
SU blitzed the Fords within the first minute as
Ava Wheeler and
Skylar Williams exchanged a give-and-go before Wheeler connected with Pantano, who found the back of the net to give the Sea Gulls the advantage 26 seconds after kickoff.
Haverford got a late tally to close the half, then scored in the opening minutes of the second frame to take the lead. After getting in front, the Fords added to their lead in the 62nd minute.
The Maroon and Gold cut the deficit in half in the 85th minute as Pantano took a pass from
Olivia Pasko and created enough separation to blast a left-footed shot inside the far post. The Sea Gulls' search for an equalizer after that came to no avail.
GAME NOTES
- Pantano notched her first two goals of the season and picked up her fifth career brace.
