SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team provided a thrilling match to close out the regular season with the No. 22 Christopher Newport University Captains on Saturday, with a 3-3 deadlock.
The Captains broke the ice at the 21-minute mark. Nine minutes later,
Conor Moran found
Jacob Rarig off a corner, who headed it to
Peter Beil, crashing the goal to bash home the Maroon and Gold's first goal of the contest.
Moments later, CNU countered with a score off a corner to get back in front. The Sea Gulls came back with an answer in the 38th minute.
Dale Gordon swiped away a possession from the Captains and centered a pass to
Liam Pierce in stride to blast a right-footed shot into the back of the net.
Christopher Newport nearly took a lead into the breather as an attempt from Yazan Yaghmmour hit the crossbar.
Yaghmmour would find pay dirt to elevate his team to a 3-2 lead in the 57th minute. In the waning minutes, SU drew a free kick from a handball.
Gavin Miller stepped up and lasered a shot over the wall and inside the right post to provide the equalizer.
The Gulls kept the game deadlocked with saves from Moran and defender
