SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team dropped an 79-56 decision inside Maggs Physical Activities Center on Wednesday to the No. 17 Hampden-Sydney College Tigers.
The Sea Gulls (1-1) got their first points on an
Aidan Camper jumper, then
Daniel Oyediran helped fuel an 11-6 early lead for the Maroon and Gold by nailing a three. Facing the deficit, the Tigers (2-1) carried a 32-6 run from the 14-minute mark until the final seconds when Camper stuck a jumper from the elbow to take the teams into the locker room with a 38-19 score.
Salisbury's big men guided the Sea Gulls in the second stanza.
Leon Elung reeled in eight boards while
Churchill Bounds tallied six points, with two buckets being assisted by Camper.
Calvin Thomas came off the bench to provide nine second-half points in the Sea Gulls' 37-point second half; however, Hampden-Sydney continued its steady pace to claim victory.

- Elung tied a career-high by bringing down ten rebounds
- Patrick Wynne chipped in seven points and snagged seven boards
- The Sea Gulls shot 26.0 percent from the floor, made three tries from beyond the arc and hit 68.2 percent (15-of-22) of their looks from the free throw line.
The Sea Gulls play in the Messiah Tip-Off Tournament starting on Friday against Washington & Lee for a 7:30 matchup.
