No. 11 Football soars in season finale over Vermont State Castleton

SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 11 Salisbury University football program earned a 63-13 win over Vermont State University Castleton Friday night inside Sea Gull Stadium for the 2025 regular season finale. The Sea Gulls used a 35-point first quarter to propel them to victory.

Salisbury (9-1, 6-1 NJAC) got the ball first and scored just three plays later with Mason Fisher scampering free from 12 yards out. The score was set up from a 43-yard pass from SyRus McGowan to Dario Belizaire. Vermont State Castleton (2-8, 0-7) went three and out on their first drive, handing the ball right back to the Sea Gulls. This time, they posted a four-play scoring drive capped off by a Jadyn Thomas 14-yard touchdown rush.

The Spartans posted a seven-play scoring drive, making the score 14-7 with just over seven minutes remaining in the first quarter. After another four-play drive from SU, Darrell Walter punched it in from two yards out. Walter would score again on the next drive from 14 yards out before the Sea Gull defense created a turnover off an interception from Patrick Sheil. Fisher would capitalize on the turnover, scoring his second of the quarter and giving SU a 35-7 lead at the end of the first.

McGowan and Walter would both add rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, while the Spartans also tallied a passing touchdown, sending the teams into halftime with the Sea Gulls leading 49-13. Oliver Morgan blocked the extra point for the Spartans before the teams headed into the halftime break. Malachi Dokes and Isaiah Holbrook also added rushing touchdowns between the third and fourth quarters for SU.
