SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Salisbury University women's swimming team saw its 13-dual meet winning streak come to an end at the hands of the 13th-ranked Swarthmore Garnet, falling 164-98 on Saturday afternoon at Ware Pool.
MEET NOTES
- Addi Wood rewrote the Sea Gull record book in the 1,000-yard freestyle, winning a gold medal with a time of 10:37.23.
- Mackenzie Gula led all swimmers with 22 points in the form of two golds, one silver, and one bronze. Gula bested the field in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.75) and 200 individual medley (2:10.81) while taking second in the 100 breast (1:08.20) and third as the breast swimmer in the 200 medley relay (30.61).
- Rowan Odonoghue medaled in four events, including a solo gold in the 500 free (5:10.51) and bronze in the 200 free (1:56.76).
- Lily Griffin secured three silver medals and one bronze, placing second individually in the 100 butterfly (58.44) and 200 fly (2:09.48).
- In the 200 medley relay, the SU A-team of Isabelle Salvatore, Gula, Griffin, and Odonoghue placed third in a time of 1:49.57.
- Kaitlyn McGuire, Logan Bagley, Griffin, and Odonoghue captured a silver in the 200 free relay in 1:39.03.
- The Sea Gulls totaled four gold medals, plus five silver and seven bronze, for 16 podium spots on the day.
- The loss is Salisbury's first in a women's dual meet since falling to Division I UMBC 148-57 on Jan. 20, 2024. SU had won 13 straight dual meets since, including an undefeated 7-0 season in 2024-25.
The Sea Gulls will head to Hampton, Va., for a big midseason test at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, set to be staged at the Hampton Aquaplex on Friday through Sunday Nov. 21-23. Salisbury finished second out of eight teams at the event last season.
