SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team dropped an 81-77 contest on Friday morning against the Notre Dame (Md.) Gators to start the Governors Challenge at the Wicomico County Civic Center.
The Gators (2-3) led throughout the first stanza, taking a 35-31 lead into the break.
Churchill Bounds paced the offense by scoring nine points on four of five shooting from the floor while adding four boards.
Daniel Oyediran broke out after halftime, putting up a half-leading 17 points in an effort to keep the Maroon and Gold in the game. Down the
stretch, Notre Dame (Md.) led by a handful and held onto the advantage until the final buzzer.
GAME NOTES
- Oyediran notched season-highs in points and rebounds with 19 and six, respectively.
- Leon Elung recorded his second double-double as a Sea Gull by scoring 13 points and coming down with 13 rebounds.
- Salisbury shot 47.6 percent (30-63) from the field, 29.4 percent (5-17) from distance and 50 percent (12-24) from the charity stripe.
The Sea Gulls round out the Governor's Challenge Tournament on Friday against the Roanoke College Maroons at the Wicomico County Civic Center. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
