No. 24 Women’s Swimming sweeps golds, trounces TCNJ

EWING, N.J. – The 24th-ranked Salisbury University women's swimming team won gold medals in all 14 events on the way to a 204-58 drubbing of The College of New Jersey Lions in Saturday afternoon's New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) dual meet at the TCNJ Aquatic Center.
 
MEET NOTES
  • Rowan Odonoghue captured four gold medals as part of a banner day, including solo first-place times in the 100-yard freestyle (54.75) and 100 butterfly (1:00.90).
  • Maddie Powell secured two individual victories, touching first in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.86) and 200 individual medley (2:16.34).
  • Isabelle Salvatore earned a gold, silver, and bronze on the day. Individually, she placed first in the 100 backstroke (1:00.54) and third in the 100 free (56.34).
  • Mackenzie Gula medaled four times, including three golds, with a winning solo time in the 200 breast (2:28.10) and a silver in the 50 free (25.24).
  • Sadie Hebert won the 200 fly (2:18.10) and took third in the 500 free (5:29.74) as part of a three-medal day.
  • The Sea Gulls thoroughly dominated the meet-opening 200 medley relay with their top three teams sweeping the podium. Setting the pace was the quartet of Logan Bagley, Gula, Hebert, and Odonoghue, who touched first in 1:50.32.
  • Salisbury closed strong by taking four of the top five slots in the 400 free relay, including a gold medal performance out of Gula, Kaitlyn McGuire, Odonoghue, and Rachel Rickabaugh (3:43.51).
  • In addition to sweeping all 14 gold medals, SU also captured nine silvers and eight bronzes, good for a total haul of 31 out of a possible 42 medals.
 
The Sea Gulls will look to remain undefeated on the season with their fourth dual meet in the past five weeks next Saturday at No. 16 Swarthmore. The first event from Swarthmore, Pa., will begin at 12 p.m.
