SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday afternoon, honoring its four graduating members with a 91-53 win over the Mid-Atlantic Christian University Mustangs inside Maggs Gymnasium.
The Sea Gulls (16-9) opened the battle with a 15-2 run headlined by a combined nine points from
Reed Rebstock and
Kedrick Frink. The Mustangs battled back, scoring 15 of the next 25 points to narrow the margin to eight with just under eight minutes left in the opening half, 25-17.
MACU outpaced SU in the final minutes of the half until the final second, when Rebstock kicked to
Aidan Camper for a buzzer-beating trey, widening the maroon and gold margin to nine through 20 minutes.
SU nabbed the momentum early in the second stanza, using a 12-1 lead to race out to a 20-point advantage through five and a half minutes, 46-26. A 6-4 Mustang stretch was quelled by a mammoth 22-10 Sea Gull swing to return the lead to push the lead to 30, 68-38.
The three-point looks kept falling for the Sea Gulls late in the contests, with
Jayden Johnson and
Buddah Spencer combining for 13 points and
Leo Ferry burying a pair from range to help SU secure the 91-53 final score.
GAME NOTES
- Reed Rebstock dumped in a team-high 20 points with five makes from beyond the arc, adding six rebounds, four assists and four steals in the win.
- Kedrick Frink finished with 16 points, five assists, four rebounds, two steals and one block in the Senior Day showdown.
- Jordan Oates recorded his 19th double-double of the season and the 52nd of his career, logging 13 points while hoarding 16 rebounds and distributing three helpers. In his final regular season game with SU, Oates jumped to fourth in program history in career rebounds, passing Milt Purnell '73.
- Jayden Johnson dropped 10 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting day including a pair of three-pointers.
- The Sea Gulls shot 52.9 percent (36-of-68) from the floor, 44.4 percent (12-of-27) from beyond the arc and 70 percent (7-of-10) from the free throw line.
