The Rundown

The No. 11 Salisbury University softball team's quest for Bloomington, IL., will begin from the friendly confines of Margie Knight Stadium. The Sea Gulls will host the four-team, double-elimination Salisbury Regional of the 2025 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament beginning on Thursday, May 15th. SU will battle Westminster (Pa.) at 11 a.m. that day, followed by a showdown between No. 19 Pfeiffer and Mount Union at 1:30 p.m.

The 2025 Sea Gulls

Salisbury finished the regular season with a 32-5-1, going 2-2 in C2C play after winning a pair against UMW and dropping two against CNU on Senior Day.
The Sea Gulls fell in extra innings in the C2C Conference Championship to No. 3 CNU.
SU spent the entire season in the top 25, earning a highest ranking of 6th in the coaches' poll. At the moment, the Sea Gulls sit 11th in the NPI rankings.
Twice this season, the program tallied a win streak of 10 games. SU went 2-4-1 in ranked match-ups this season, picking up wins over Rochester and ending game two in a tie due to darkness against Virginia Wesleyan.
The No. 11 Salisbury University softball program earned six athletes on the 2025 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Softball All-Conference Teams announced by the league on Wednesday morning. Sydney Adolfson, Carrie Jacoby, Ellen Stockman, and Emily Stockman all earned All-C2C First Team honors, while Emily Challender and Justyce Richard earned Honorable Mention honors.
Adolfson, the sophomore from Newtown, Conn., posted a 14-2 record in the circle this season for the Sea Gulls, which included seven complete-game shutouts. She appeared in 26 games, making 21 starts. Adolfson racked up 80 strikeouts with a 0.88 ERA and three saves. She also tallied four hits and two RBIs at the plate in 18 appearances.
Jacoby, the senior from Lusby, Md., posted a .449 batting average starting every game for SU this year. Jacoby led the Sea Gulls in batting average and hits and was tied for first in doubles. She posted 48 hits in 107 at-bats with 39 RBIs and eight home runs.
El. Stockman, the senior from Brunswick, Md., also started all 38 games for the Sea Gulls, earning a .382 batting average with 47 hits, 10 doubles, five home runs, and 31 RBIs. She set career-highs in every statistical category this season. El. Stockman also debuted in the circle this season for SU, posting nine innings in four appearances, earning one win with a 1.56 ERA.
Em. Stockman, the senior from Brunswick, Md., started every game behind the plate for the program, earning a .367 batting average with 44 hits, 12 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, and 40 RBIs. She led the team in home runs, RBIs, and total bases.
Challender, the senior from Lumberton, N.J., also started all 38 games for the Sea Gulls as the everyday third baseman. She racked up a .375 batting average on 39 hits with seven doubles, two triples, one home run, 15 RBIs, and a team-high 22 stolen bases, which also set a career-high for her. Challender also led the Sea Gulls in on-base percentage at .528, earning 20 walks, which included 16 hit by pitch.
Richard, the sophomore from Columbia, Md., posted a 10-1 record in the circle for the Sea Gulls. posting an ERA of 2.57 with one shutout and 29 strikeouts in just over 65 innings of work. At the plate, she tallied a batting average of .400, earning 12 hits in 30 at-bats with four doubles, one home run, and five RBIs. She posted an on-base percentage of .513 with three walks and five hit by pitches.

Westminster (Pa.) Titans

The Pfeiffer University softball team (35-7) is fresh off winning the USA South regular season and tournament championships for the third straight season. The Falcons are in the midst of a 23-game winning streak, the second-best mark in school history, and are the No.2 seed for the Salisbury Regional.

The University of Mount Union's softball team defeated Baldwin Wallace 8-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championship game to earn an AQ into the NCAA field. The Purple Raiders (27-12, 13-5 OAC) had five players named to All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams, with junior Kendyll Cahill (Groveport / Groveport Madison) being named the John Wells Pitcher of the Year and freshman Allison Jones (Berlin Center / Western Reserve) being named the co-Rookie of the Year.

The Westminster College softball program earned the AQ after back-to-back titles in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). The PAC title is the third in program history. This is Westminster's second-straight appearance in the Division III Championship field. The Titans finished with a 28-11 record and 14-6 in PAC action.

We are so excited to begin our postseason journey. This is something that we have been talking about since we started last fall! We know where we want to be in the end, but my message to the team has been to keep the focus one pitch at a time, one game at a time, and keep playing Sea Gull softball. If we focus on the process, the outcomes will take care of themselves.

What's At Stake

The winner of the Salisbury Regional advances to the Super Regionals, which runs from Thursday, May 22nd through Friday, May 23rd at a location to be determined.
Those eight winners will advance to the 2024 NCAA Division III Softball Championship on May 29th - June 4th at Inspiration Field, Bloomington, IL.
