Men’s Soccer draws even with York (Pa.) in Elmer Lord Memorial Tournament

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team came out firing to start the 2025 slate with a 5th-minute marker, but the York College of Pennsylvania Spartans responded early in the second half, resulting in a 1-1 draw on Friday afternoon at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex.

The Sea Gulls found their opening in the early minutes of the contest when Dale Gordon made a run down the left wing, creating a cross that took a deflection inside the box for Gavin Miller to bury into the back of the net, giving the Sea Gulls the advantage.

Salisbury ramped up the pressure, outshooting the Spartans 7-3 in the first 45 minutes. York (Pa.) flipped the script 5 minutes into the second half as the Spartans created multiple consecutive chances at goal that were turned aside by Clif Nehman.

The walls caved in minutes after for the Sea Gulls as Matt Martin found himself free from just inside the box and leveled the score with a left-footed finish.
In the final 15 minutes, each team got one look at a goal that was both stopped, and when the clock ran out in their season openers, a final score of 1-1 was the result.
