Men's Soccer soars past Messiah
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team never looked back in its contest against the Messiah University Falcons, 4-0, on Saturday at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex.
The Sea Gulls had a huge contribution from
Noah Blankensop, who launched a throw-in from the sideline into the box, finding the head of
Jacob Rarig and opening the scoring for the hosts in the 20th minute.
The maroon and gold were not done in the first stanza, with 30 seconds remaining
Austin Hofmann sent a through ball between the legs of
George Ogilvie to the right foot of
David Brunetti and buried the ball into the bottom left corner.
The Sea Gulls picked up where they left off as
Liam Pierce made a run down the left wing and capped it off by distributing off to Blankensop, who put home the third goal of the afternoon for the Gulls.
Messiah found their best of the game in the 85th minute with a breakaway chance that
Clif Nehman got enough of a piece of the shot to keep out of his net.
SU capped off the victory with a
Jake Trama strike into the top shelf from a setup by
Ian Wagner.
