Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Andrew Barbieri

Pyles’ header propels Men’s Soccer to dramatic victory

CAMDEN, N.J. Connor Pyles came soaring through the air off a corner entry by Kai Lindsay. Through contact, the senior redirected the ball into the back of the net with two seconds left to give the Sea Gulls (3-2-2) a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Rutgers University-Camden Scarlet Raptors (3-3-1).

Lindsay initiated SU's first goal two minutes into the game in the same style, finding Liam Pierce through traffic to break the ice. SU generated the first four shots on goal in the contest, but the game remained a one-goal difference.

With less than eight minutes remaining in the opening stanza, Tommy Monaghan knotted the affair up on the Scarlet Raptors' first shot on goal.

Jacob Rarig began the second frame with a shot that was stopped by Scarlet Raptors keeper Aleksander Nycz. Rutgers-Camden countered minutes later with two consecutive looks at the Salisbury net, one being saved by Clif Nehman, and the other chance getting blocked.

The Scarlet Raptors were stonewalled twice in the final 10 minutes by Nehman to keep the game even. Pyles and the Sea Gulls then spoiled the potential 1-1 draw to give the maroon and gold back-to-back wins.

GAME NOTES
