Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Andrew Barbieri

Women's Soccer earns hard-fought draw

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team drew 1-1 with the York College of Pennsylvania Spartans on Wednesday at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex.

The Sea Gulls struck first in the contest when a header by Ava Wheeler into the box pinballed around, eventually finding Jordan Edwards, who found twine from close quarters to get the maroon and gold on the board in the 36th minute

Minutes later, the Spartans drew a PK after pushing down the field and converted to level the score.

York took the momentum and carried it into the second stanza, taking 11 shots compared to Salisbury's two. Riley Kinzeler and the Gulls' backline did not blink, keeping the game even.

GAME NOTES
  • Edwards made her fifth career start and netted her second goal of the campaign.
  • Brooke Spadin placed one of her three shots on goal.
  • Kinzeler made three saves.
The Sea Gulls head to Pittsburgh, Pa., to take on the No. 20 Carnegie Mellon University Tartans. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at the CMU Soccer Field.
