Women’s Soccer rallies for draw with Washington (Md.)

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team drew even with its Eastern Shore rival, the Washington College Shorewomen, 1-1 at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Both sides generated an opportunity early with the Gulls' look coming off a corner that Brooke Spadin headed and got denied in the sixth minute. Hayle Foreman scooped up the one attempt directed her way to keep the game scoreless heading into the break.

Washington (Md.) controlled the second half, outshooting the maroon and gold 8-3 in the second frame, and forced a Salisbury own goal 10 minutes in the latter half.

The Sea Gulls responded six minutes later with Rebecca Fairbanks sending in a corner that found Alex Jankowski through traffic to level the game at one.

Foreman would shut the door on back-to-back tries quickly after the goal in what proved to be the final shots on goal of the contest.
