The Series: This is the third time the Sea Gulls and Generals have faced off in football. In last year's season opener inside Sea Gull Stadium, Salisbury picked up a 48-26 win by posting 617 total yards of offense.

Last Season: Last season, Salisbury posted a 12-1 record, the New Jersey Athletic Conference title, and an appearance in the NCAA quarterfinals of the Division III playoffs. The Sea Gulls recorded their fifth undefeated regular season and sixth quarterfinal appearance in program history. The Gulls began last season unranked and finished No. 6 in the country. This year, SU has been tabbed the No. 7 team in the country to start the season.

The Captains: Seniors Kilo Mack, Micah Brubaker, and Daniel Clark, along with graduate student Jimmy Celentano, were named captains for the Sea Gulls headed into week one.

All-NJAC Returners: Dario Belizaire and Malachi Baker earned First-Team All-NJAC. Micah Brubaker, Daniel Clark, Chase Lomax, Jimmy Celentano, Kollin Samaha, and Jadyn Thomas picked up Second-Team honors while Kilo Mack rounded out the All-Conference team, earning honorable mention. Head Coach Sherman Wood and his staff earned NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year, while SyRus McGowan earned Offensive Rookie of the Year last season.

The Class of the NJAC: Since joining the NJAC in 2015, Salisbury has won 65 games in the conference. The 65 wins stand as the most wins among active teams in the conference. Since joining the NJAC in 2015, Salisbury has won six conference championships, which is the most in the eight years.

Among the Greats: Salisbury head coach Sherman Wood ranks in the top-15 of active coaches in wins, regardless of NCAA Division. After earning NJAC and AFCA Region 2 Coach of the year honors, Wood would go on to earn his first AFCA National Coach of the Year honor in his 32nd season as a head coach.

In 2024, Wood guided Salisbury to a 12-1 record, the New Jersey Athletic Conference title, and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the Division III playoffs. The Sea Gulls recorded their fifth undefeated regular season and sixth quarterfinal appearance. Wood, the all-time wins leader at Salisbury, has a record of 193-80 with the Sea Gulls and an overall record of 214-119-1 when you include his six seasons at Bowie State.

Offensive Powerhouse: Hansen Ratings was proud to announce the release of its 8th annual 2024 Division III Football Analytical All-American teams. Salisbury head coach Sherman Wood was named Coach of the Year, while Ryan Fleetwood earned Offensive Coordinator of the Year honors. Tre Price earned First-Team All-American, Tony Mason earned Second-Team, Dusty Krotee earned Third-Team, and Chris Clarke earned Fourth-Team.

Wood led the Gulls to a 12-1 mark this season, earning one of the top four seeds in the national tournament, a No. 5 finish in the AFCA Top 25 poll, and a No. 6 ranking in the final D3football. com Top 25. Salisbury defeated multiple Top 25 teams, earning Wood NJAC Coach of the Year and AFCA Coach of the Year.

Fleetwood led the charge of one of the most prolific offenses in the country for Division III. The Sea Gull offense ranked 5th in total yards last season, third in yards per play, and third in total touchdowns.

Mr. All-American: For the first time this past season, the Walter Camp Foundation recognized an NCAA Division III Football All-America team, and Tre Price from the Salisbury University football program has earned his fourth All-American honor. Price, the Westminster, Md. native, kept racking up the awards.

Price was named AFCA All-America First Team, Associated Press Division III Second Team All-America, which was a first for the program, and All-NJAC First Team. Price played 12 games for Salisbury on the front line, helping the offense average 46 points and 471 yards per game. The offense was also 56 percent on third downs this season, which helped the team earn its fifth undefeated regular season and sixth NCAA quarterfinal appearance. Price is now on staff with the Sea Gulls as an intern working with the offensive line.

Scouting the Generals: The Blue and White are coming off a 7–4 overall record and a 5–2 mark in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play, highlighted by the program's first postseason bowl victory—a 40–21 win over Wilkes College in the Cape Henry Bowl.

W&L returns five offensive starters, including Third Team All-ODAC selection Anthony Crawford, who will lead the Generals' rushing attack this season. On defense, six starters return, headlined by All-Region and All-ODAC honoree Will Mahmud and Second Team All-ODAC selection Jack Johnson.

Junior quarterback Ty Collins will once again command the Generals' multi-faceted triple-option offense. As a sophomore, he completed 69 of 117 passes (59%) for 983 yards and 10 touchdowns—the first W&L quarterback to throw for double-digit touchdowns since Charlie Westfal '12 tossed 15 in 2011. Collins also added 401 rushing yards on 95 carries with four scores. Crawford returns as the team's leading rusher after recording 564 yards and nine touchdowns on 106 carries last season, earning Third Team All-ODAC recognition.

Defensively, sophomore linebacker Brennan Stout is the top returning tackler. In his rookie campaign, he tallied 72 total stops, including 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, while recording five games with double-digit tackles. His career-high of 15 came against Trinity (Texas) on Sept. 21. Mahmud anchors the defensive front after leading the team in sacks (6) and tackles for loss (11) last season, while also posting 64 total tackles, three pass breakups, and two quarterback hurries.

This year, the Generals return ten offensive starters, including All-ODAC selections Jacob Romero, Tucker Jacobsen, Harrison Donovan, Marcus Payne, and Evan Novak. On the defensive side, the Blue and White bring back seven starters from 2023, including Will Mahmud, Will Knight, Jack Johnson, and Charlie Fleming.
