GRANTHAM, Pa. - The No. 3 Salisbury University field hockey program picked up a road-ranked win over No. 9 Messiah University 4-0 Saturday afternoon on Anderson Field.
Both teams were held scoreless in the first period of action, with the Sea Gulls (3-0) outshooting the Falcons (0-3) 3-1. SU also posted two penalty corner chances in the first quarter but could not break through.
The second quarter was a different story for the Sea Gulls as they posted two goals before the halftime break. In the quarter, the Sea Gulls posted five shots and two penalty corners.
Morgan Bradford posted the first Sea Gull goal unassisted, while
Tessa Gray earned the second goal off an assist from
Regan Nacrelli.
Six minutes into the second half, the Sea Gulls earned a penalty stroke that
Ramsey Coffman slotted past the Falcon keeper, extending the SU lead to 3-0.
SU tabbed another goal in the fourth from
Alex Kupper, with Nacrelli earning her second assist of the game. The Sea Gull defense posted its second consecutive shutout, earning their first ranked win of the season.

Salisbury will head to No. 5 Johns Hopkins for another top 10 battle on September 10th at 7 p.m. in Baltimore, Md.Â
