Nest to Nest | Morgan Adams, Women’s Swimming

SALISBURY, Md. – This is "Nest to Nest," a regular series spotlighting the big miles and bigger stories of the Sea Gull student-athletes on each team who traveled the farthest to be at Salisbury University. This week, Morgan Adams of SU women's swimming shows us around one of the country's earliest colonial outposts that eventually became "America's Hometown."

What would you say your hometown is known for?
My hometown is probably best known for Plymouth Rock and the landing of the Mayflower; maybe the beaches, too.

What's your favorite hometown hangout spot?
My favorite spots are either the beach or downtown; there's a lot of history downtown, so it's fun to walk around. There's a coffee place called Jolly Bean Café – it's near our downtown area, and I like to go there every weekend with my friends.

Which local sports teams do you root for?
I'm a Patriots fan, them and the other Boston sports teams.

How did you hear about Salisbury University?
I found Salisbury University on a website for swimming where you can put in your name and times and find the best schools for you to swim at. Salisbury popped up, and that was that.

What's the biggest difference between life in your hometown and life here in Salisbury?
The biggest difference between here and my hometown is probably the drivers. That, and some of the foods I'd never heard of until I got here like scrapple. I didn't know what that was. I've never had it yet, I'm a little nervous.

What's something you can turn to that reminds you of your hometown on the days when you miss it?
I like to go to the beach when I feel homesick because I go to the beach all the time at home, and Salisbury is really close to the beach, so it's really convenient and nice.

How would you sell someone on visiting your hometown?
There's a lot of good food places, and there's the beach and different places you can look at the water. So if you like the beach and great food – ice cream shops, coffee shops – I mean, it has everything. And Plymouth Rock, if you want to go see that. It's like the smallest national monument, so that's cool.
